Henry County Cemetery Commission Minutes, March 24, 2011
Commission Members Present: M. Burch, U.E. Bush, T. Hamm, A. Holmes, D. Tauber
Present from the Public: K. Holmes
1. The current officers were reelected for the coming year.
2. The minutes of the meeting of February 24 were approved as preciously distributed.
3. The treasurer reported an unchanged balance of $3,026.10.
4. Liberty Township Trustee Phyllis Shafer has given permission for work at the Flat Rock Friends Cemetery. Bud Bush has arranged through Mark Kreps for Boy Scout volunteers.
5. Concern was expressed for the condition of the Hodson Cemetery in Stony Creek Township and the Holland Cemetery in Dudley Township.
6. Concern was expressed over the continuing need for volunteers and for expansion of the Advisory Board to include a member from each township.
7. A work day was set for May 21 at Flat Rock.
8. Mayor Small has asked for the commission’s participation in the dedication of a marker at the site of the Old North 14th Street Cemetery on May 28. We will participate.
9. The meeting adjourned. Next meeting will be held Thursday, April 28, at 6:00 P.M.

Henry County Cemetery Commission Minutes, April 28, 2011
Commission Members Present: Holmes, Tauber, Bush, Hamm
Present from the Public: Ken Holmes
1. The minutes of the meeting of March 24, 2011, were approved.
2. Reimbursement of $32.11 to Ken Holmes for supplies purchases was approved.
3. The commission will participate in the dedication of a marker at the site of the North Fourteenth Street Cemetery in New Castle at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 28. Members of the Dar and SAR and various public officials will take part as well.
4. We will have a workday at the Flat Rock Friends Cemetery in Liberty Township on Saturday, May 21. The Boy Scouts will be present. Bud Bush will investigate the possibility of prisoners from the jail taking part. Township Trustee Phyllis Shafer has signed a permission form.
5. Regular work is being done at the Hess Cemetery in Harrison Township.
6. The commission authorized payment of $250 to Brad Manzenberger for work at the Flat Rock Friends Cemetery.
7. The meeting adjourned to meet again on Thursday, May 26, 2011.

Commission Members Present: Tauber, Burch, Bush, Holmes, Hamm
Present from the Public: K. Holmes, M. Hughes
1. The minutes of the meeting of April 28, 2011, were approved as previously distributed.
2. The commission approved payment of $250 to Brad Manzenberger for work at the Flat Rock Friends Cemetery.
3. The treasurer’s report showed a balance of $2,943.99.
4. The president reported that Jefferson Township trustee had donated $200 for signs at the Bethel German Baptist Cemetery and the Bowers Cemetery. She will provide additional funding for work on stones at the Bowers Cemetery.
5. It was reported that a Scout project will be done at the Fatic Cemetery in Fall Creek Township in June.
6. The workday at the Flat Rock Friends Cemetery in Liberty Township was a success. Twenty-one markers were reset. Some work remains.
7. Gene Clark as requested a sign for the Hillsboro Cemetery.
8. Plans were made for the dedication of the sign at the site of the North 14th Street Cemetery in New Castle on May 28.
9. The commission adjourned to meet again on Thursday, June 23.

Henry County Cemetery Commission Minutes, Aug. 25, 2011
Commission Members Present: Tauber, Hamm, Bush, Holmes
Present from the Public: Ken Holmes.
1. Minutes and actions from the July meeting are incorporated into these minutes:
a. Commissioners Bush, Tauber, and Holmes attended
b. Appreciation was expressed for volunteer work done at the Fatic and Beech Grove Cemeteries.
c. A claim of $19.47 submitted by Ken Holmes was approved.
2. The treasurer reported a balance of $2,959.56
3. Ken Holmes reported working two Saturdays with a group organized by Jim Campbell at Beech Grove Cemetery in Prairie Township. Some standards for certifying cemetery work for Boy Scout merit badges were discussed.
4. It was decided to make the Clear Spring Friends Cemetery in Harrison Township the Day of Caring project.
5. The commission approved a certificate of appreciation for Mark Kreps.
6. It was reported that there had been excavation done at the Bales Cemetery in Blue River Township. No burial permit has been issued there recently. Thomas Hamm will investigate.
7. The president reported that in 1987 Blue River Township Trustee Joyce Cassidy had leased the Bales Cemetery to members of the Stockberger family. While intended to provide for the cemetery’s care, it is unclear whether a trustee can lease a cemetery. We will consult with counsel.
8. The meeting adjourned with the next set for Sept. 22, 2011.

HCCC Minutes for October 22, 2011
In attendance were board members Mike Burch, Bud Bush and Donna Tauber
Jim and mother Mary Campbell were present from the public. Campbell presented his completed work at Beech Grove. Apr 250 stones were reset and cleaned with a total of 180 man hours. The board approved to sign his documents to receive his Eagle Scout Award for the project.
Award Gathering will be December 5th at 6 pm at the Iron Kettle. The board agreed to do a plaque for 2011 Township Trustee of the Year to Melinda Grounds for her years of dedication to cemetery restoration (this is a surprise for her) Also invited will be Jim Campbell for Beech Grove and to Jacob Harter for Fatic Cemeteries. They will receive an Appreciation letter (Bud can you do this like in the past?)
A report from Ken stated that the trailer is now stored for the winter.
