Henry County Cemetery Commission Minutes, August 23, 2012
At our August 23rd, 2012 meeting we had in attendance Donna Tauber, Mike Burch and Ann Homes.
Present from the Advisory Board was Ken Holmes.
1. Being no meeting in July, minutes of June 28th were approved.
2. Treasurer Ann reported a balance of $2983.27
3. President Tauber reported she had no luck with approaching the County Commissioners for funding at this time, due to their other many budget cuts.
4. The Day of Caring was discussed at much length and decided at this time we will not be doing a project this year. The Holmes's are scheduled to be out of town that week, and we just don't have the manpower to oversee a project. Also a concern is mosquitoes! There will be a project at Hillsboro Cemetery with Gene Clark overseeing it. This will consist of tree and limb removal from recent storms. I did talk to Gene this week and he would like for us to assist him with restoring resetting several stones. There is a possibility that we may use some of our funding to accomplish this with Brad, Helen or Walt (or who we decide to use) as discussed at the July meeting. I also am expecting a donation from a lady in North Carolina (her name is Mrs. Ray) for Hillsboro for research I helped her with - unsure if it will $5 or $500! Also we need to restore the obelisk at Batson on a large stone.
5. Our next meeting is scheduled Sept 23 at 6 pm - Henry County Historical Society - hope is everyone is doing well and can make it!
