This list of names is from what is probably the first recorded Henry County, IN legal document. This is from an old ledger that was found in the clock tower of the old courthouse by former historian and Henry County Museum curator Clifford Smith. Several old books and ledgers were located and turned over to the county museum by the Henry County Circuit Court judge. This ledger was started in October of 1822, several years before there was even a courthouse or courtroom in the county. The officials met in private homes to start the county off on its legal history. This was over one hundred and eighty years ago.
This book (#54B) "Sales and Inventories of Estates 1822 - 1831" is located in the Henry County Museum along with all of the other old ledgers and books.
