Dunreith: "Mr. Amasa Harrold met with a serious accident last Friday while out hunting. It appears that some one had left a small particle of cotton in the gun after cleaning, and this caught fire and remained in the barrel of the gun after Mr. Harrold had discharged it: when Mr. Harrold was pouring the powder down in reloading it ignited and communicated to the can, which burst, with nearly half a pound of powder in it. Harrold says it lifted him up and put him down about ten feet away; one side of his face and eye are very severely burned, but it is a marvel that he escaped with such slight injury considering the amount of powder ignited."
