Arnett Stanford house burglarized.
Died, Jan. 27, Ernest, son of J.W. and Anna C. Griffin, aged 2 years, 1 month. Killed when stove upset and was scalded by hot water.
Dr. J.N. Stewart and wife moving from Spiceland to Lawrence, Ks. "The doctor & his estimable lady will be much missed from Spiceland circles, where they had the confidence and esteem of as near the entire community as often falls to anyone. We understand he had some extra inducements offered him if he would remove, and indeed they ought to be extra to justify him in giving up the fine practice which he had secured here."

Nancy Coble, daughter of Peter, died at residence on East Broad Street on Tuesday evening, in her 20th year.
Mary McGrath died of consumption at her father's residence on Tuesday evening, buried at Anderson.
Married at ME parsonage last Sunday by Rev. W.R. Kistler, Charles Ball & Miss Ann E. Mullen.
Married, Feb. 1, at M.E. parsonage by Rev. Kistler, Winfield Scott Shirk & Mary Bicknell, all of Henry County.
Rev. P.G. Bell, former pastor of Lutheran church, now lives in northern Illinois.

Account of Spiceland Academy orations.
Annie, youngest daughter of Joshua Holland, died Monday last, buried at South Mound, last of five children to die of tuberculosis.
"We regret to learn that so valuable a man as Prof. C.W. Hodgin is about to leave the county. He will locate, we are told, at Marion, Grant County, where we hope success will attend him and his. We understand from one of the patrons that the Hopewell graded school was never more successfully managed than for the past 2 or 3 years, and we believe that the place of Mr. & Mrs. Hodgin in the neighborhood will not easily be supplied."
