John Manlove, "one of the first settlers and oldest citizens of Wayne Twp., died at his residence near Grant City, on Wednesday, the 6th inst. Mr. Manlove came to the county more than 45 years ago, when the region where Grant City now stands was an Indian sugar orchard. Mr. M. was over 88 years of age, and was remarkably active and vigorous for one of his age until a very short time of his death. The deceased left a large number of children and grandchildren scattered over several states."

'Tis needless, perhaps, to say that no such persons reside in the county, or that the Courier never gets a list of half a dozen names correct."
