It is on the north side of the road. CANADAY, see MESSICK CONWAY, see KESSINGER COREY, see BALES DOWNING; OLD MOORELAND S23 - T18N - R11E From SR36, go south on Wilbur Wright Road, then east on CR450N. Northwest edge of Mooreland. HILL FARM S28 - T18N - R11E This would be on the west of CR600E, between CR300N and CR400N. Has been plowed over. KESSINGER; CONWAY; MACEDONIA S35 - T18N - R11E From SR36, go south on Wilbur Wright Road. It is about two miles south of Mooreland on the east-side of the road on a little hill. At one time this was the site of the Macedonian Methodist Episcopal Church. MACEDONIA, see KESSINGER MESSICK; CANADAY; NEEDMORE S32 - T18N - R11E From US36, go south on Messick Road to CR300N. It is about 0.25 mile south and 0.5 mile west of this intersection, 200 feet southeast of the old railroad grade. At one time Liberty Congregation Church was here. MOORELAND S14 - T18N - R11E This is on the northeast corner of US36 and Wilbur Wright Road. This cemetery dates to the early 1890's; previously, the community used Downing Cemetery. MOORELAND, OLD, see DOWNING NEEDMORE, see MESSICK OLD MOORELAND, see DOWNING WHITE BRANCH GERMAN S32 - T18N - R12E This would be northeast of CR200N and CR900E. Near the church building, Parsonage sitting on it. No stones remain. HERR FARM S7 - T16N - R12E From I-70 go north to New Lisbon, then go east on CR500S. It is south of this road near the Wayne County line, about 0.5 mile from any road. HOLLAND S36 - T16N - R11E From US40, go south on Bentonville Road, then west on CR950S. Or, from US40, go south on CR675S, then northeast on CR950S. It is just west of Little Symon's Creek, back a lane west of the road. HOPEWELL S14 - T16N - R11E This cemetery is at the intersection of CR700S and CR575E. From US40, travel north on 575E. From I-70, go south on Wilbur Wright Road, then west on CR700S. NEW LISBON S11 - T16N - R11E From US40 or I-70, go north on Wilbur Wright Road, then west on CR500S. It is on the south side of the road just west of New Lisbon. OLD BAPTIST, see WASHINGTON OLD HOPEWELL; SYMON'S CREEK S23 - T16N - R11E This was the site of the original Hopewell Friends Meeting. It is southeast of the current meeting house on a farm. From US40, travel north on 575E. From I-70, go south on Wilbur Wright Road about ¾ mile past 700S, it is in the field to the west about 400 yards PAUL S16 - T16N - R11E From I-70, go North on Wilbur Wright road to CR 600S, turn right (east) on CR 600S, then go east on CR 600S about 1 1/2 miles. The cemetery will be on your right, about 50 yards from the road. SALEM S21 - T16N - R11E This is at the intersection of CR700S and CR425E at the Salem United Methodist Church. From US40, go north on CR425E. From I-70, go south on Wilbur Wright Road, then west on CR700S. SOUTH (AKA as Washington or Old Baptist) S7 - T16N - R12E From US40, go north on Wilbur Wright road, then east on CR600S. From I-70, go north on Wilbur Wright Road, then east on CR500S. It is on the south side of the road, east of Dublin Pike. About 200 yards south of the Herr farm. SYMONS CREEK (UPPER SETTLEMENT), see OLD HOPEWELL UNKNOWN S3 - T16N - R11E This would be west of CR500E and 0.25 mile north of CR500N. It was in the 1893 atlas. Has been plowed over. WASHINGTON; OLD BAPTIST S7 - T16N - R12E This abandoned cemetery is between CR500S and CR600S, west of CR875E (county line road), about 0.25 mile south of Herr Farm Cemetery. WINSLOW S23 - T16N - R11E This is in the area southwest of the Hopewell Cemeteries, west of 500E and north of US40. ½ mile northwest of Straughn. BURNER S7 - T18N - R9E This would be east of CR850W on CR700N. There are no markers. BURR, see OLD PIONEER SOUTH FATIC (FATTIC) S7 - T18N - R9E 40°01'20"N 85°32'43"W From US36, go north on CR850W. It is in a field on the east side of this road, north of a lane north of Deer Creek. KEESLING S24 - T18N - R8E From US36, go south on CR950W, then turn west on CR400N. It is in a field northwest of this intersection. MECHANICSBURG S24 - T18N - R8E 40°00'16"N 85°33'44"W This cemetery is on the south side of US36 at the west edge of Mechanicsburg. MILLER S34 - T19N - R9E 40°03'24"N 85°29'55"W The new part is on the southwest corner of CR850N and CR600W. The old part is on CR850N east of the intersection. From US36, go north on Raider Road, then east on Locust St. (CR850N) in Middletown. OLD PIONEER SOUTH; BURR; RADAR; RILEY S32 - T19N - R9E From US36, travel north on Raider Road to 0.5 mile south of Middletown. It is on the west side of the road. PAINTER S28 - T19N - R9E 40°04'11"N 85°30'05"W From the end of SR236 in Middletown, go north on Raider Road, and east on CR950N. Or, from US36, go north on Raider Road, and east on CR950N. PRESBYTERIAN S29 - T19N - R9E The exact location of this church cemetery is unknown. It would have been north of Middleton. New housing has been built over it. RADAR, see OLD PIONEER SOUTH RILEY, see OLD PIONEER SOUTH SHOWALTER S16 - T18N - R9E This cemetery is 0.25 mile north of US36 on the east side of CR700W. Near McGrady ditch. WHITE UNION S22 - T18N - R9E This is on the south side of US36 near CR525W. South of the church. BERGER FARM S29 - T16N - R11E This cemetery is about two miles east of Lewisville on the north side of US40; no markers remain. The old Berger Home (a log cabin) was moved to Conner Prairie in Hamilton County. BETHEL S2 - T16N - R10E This would be west of Main St. Road (CR75E) and north of CR500S. The old Bethel neighborhood was once located here. The Bethel church cemetery has been plowed over. BUCY S35 - T16N - R10E This would be on CR25W and ¼ mile north of CR1000S (county line road) only one stone is still standing here. EBENEZER S12 - T16N - R10E 39°50'45"N 85°21'54"W From SR103, go west on CR600N about a half-mile past the Flatrock creek bridge. FARLEY S17 - T16N - R11E From SR103, travel east on CR700S; this cemetery is ½ mile north of CR700S and ½ mile east of CR250E. FIRST SALEM S20 - T16N - R11E HAYES (Same as Unknown) S35 - T16N - R10E The exact location of this cemetery is unknown. It would have been south of US40, between CR000 and CR100E. LEWISVILLE S30 - T16N - R11E This cemetery is at the south edge of Lewisville north of the railroad and one block south of US40. NUGEN FARM S25 - T16N - R10E About a half-mile west of Lewisville, it is north of US40. Near a large red barn, the stones are stored in the big red barn. RICH SQUARE S7 - T15N - R11E From SR103, go east on CR600S, then north on CR225E. It is at the site of the Rich Square Friends meeting; it is on the west side of the road. UNITED BRETHREN S20 - T16N - R11E The exact location of this church cemetery is unknown. It would have been between CR700S and US40, and between CR300E and the township line. UNKNOWN (Bucy) S35 - T16N - R10E This is between US40 and CR1000S, and on CR25W, ¼ mile north of county line road south. WALKER S34 - T16N - R10E From US40, go south on CR25W. It is west of the road and just south of the railroad on a farm. The markers have been removed to the front yard of the farm home and the field plowed. There are three ways to reach the town of Greensboro. From SR3 south of New Castle, travel west on CR200S, then south on Greensboro Pike. From SR38 west of New Castle, turn south onto Greensboro Pike. From SR109 in Knightstown, go east on Morgan Street, which curves and becomes Greensboro Pike. DUDLEY, see JONES GREENSBORO; MASONIC S35 - T17N - R9E 39°52'25"N 85°28'00"W This is at the south edge of town at Mill Street and Greensboro Pike. It was originally the burying ground for the Duck Creek Meeting of Orthodox Friends. The northern part of this cemetery is the Masonic Cemetery. HICKSITE S36 - T17N - R9E 39°52'26"N 85°27'46"W This is on the southeast edge of Greensboro at the intersection of CR400S and CR375W on the north side of the road. This was the burying ground for the Duck Creek Meeting of Hicksite Friends. Because at first the Hicksite Friends banned tombstones as a vanity, there are few markers dating before the Civil War. JONES; DUDLEY S19 - T17N - R9E This would be south of CR100S and east of Mechanicsburg Road. MASONIC, see GREENSBORO OLD GREENSBORO; ROSE S6 - T16N - R10E This is across the road from the Hicksite Cemetery on the southeast corner of CR400S and CR375W. This was the burying ground of those who were not Quakers in this area, those who wanted large tombstones, family plots, or the rites of fraternal orders when buried. It was abandoned in the 1870's when the Quakers relaxed their rules. ROSE, see OLD GREENSBORO TRAIL'S GROVE S25 - T17N - R8E From SR234 west of Kennard, travel south on the Grant City Road (Mechanicsburg Road). It is just north of the old railroad grade on the west side of the road. It was a black cemetery used mostly by the family of William Trail, a former slave. ADDISON S35 - T18N - R9E This would be north of CR200W and east of CR500W. Plowed over. CADIZ; QUAKER S3 - T17N - R9E 39°56'47"N 85°29'11"W° From SR38, go south on Mill Street, then east on CR100N. It is on the north side of the road. CLEAR SPRING S13 - T17N - R9E From SR38, go south on Mount Lawn Road (CR400W), then east on CR100S. It is on the north side of the road. At one time, this land was in Greensboro Township. Former site of the Clear Springs Friend's church. GOSSAGE, see WYATT GREEN HILLS S12 - T17N - R9E This memorial garden was started in 1979. It is on the north side of SR38 between CR300W and CR400W. HEBRON S29 - T18N - R9E From SR38, travel north on Raider Road, then east on CR350N. It was just east side of Raider Road. It has been plowed over and some stones were taken to Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Fall Creek Township, a few miles north of this location. HEDRICK; HEDRICKSBURG S18 - T17N - R9E From SR234, west of Kennard, go north on Grant City Road. From SR234 north (east) of Kennard, go west on Central Avenue West (CR000), then ¼ mile south on Grant City Road. It is on the east side of this road. HEDRICKSBURG, see HEDRICK HESS S34 - T18N - R9E 39°58'02"N 85°29'58"W From SR38, go north on Cadiz Pike. It is about one mile north of Cadiz. On the west side of the road. QUAKER, see CADIZ REYNOLDS S32 - T18N - R9E This cemetery is on the south side of SR38 two miles west of Cadiz on a farm near the road. WYATT, GOSSAGE S8 - T17N - R9E From SR234 west of New Castle, go west on CR100N. This cemetery was ¼ mile west of CR700W. The stones have been stored behind the garage. This cemetery was started by the MEC BROOKSHIRE; DUCK CREEK S8 - T17N - R10E From SR38 west of New Castle, go north on Sulphur Springs Road about one mile. This cemetery is north of Sugar Grove Cemetery on the east side of the road, hidden by tall pine trees. This was the burying ground for the Duck Creek Wesleyan Methodist Church. DRAPER S7 - T17N - R10E This is presumed to be west of Brookshire Cemetery. The area is bounded by SR38 on the south, CR300W on the west, CR50N on the north, and Sulphur Springs Road on the east. DUCK CREEK, see BROOKSHIRE ELLIOTT S21 - T17N - R10E 39°54'24"N 85°23'13"W From SR3 south of New Castle, go west on Old Spiceland Pike, then south on Meadowbrook Drive. Or, from a little further south on SR3, go north on Meadowbrook Drive. HEATON S22 - T17N - R10E This was in the area south of Baker Park, east of SR3 on Riley road past the little creek. The stones were tossed in the stream. HOBSON S15 - T17N - R10E This cemetery is now obliterated. It was at the site of the South Ninth Street Weselyan Church (125 S. Ninth St.). From SR38, go south on Ninth Street. Ninth Street is between SR3 and SR103. LEWELLING, see ZOAR McDANIELS S33 - T17N - R10E From SR3, go west on CR350S, or TSC road about a quarter of a mile. Or, from SR3, go north on CR25W. It was the site of the old McDaniel Methodist Church. OLD NORTH FOURTEENTH STREET S10 - T17N - R10E This was on the east side of the 200 block of north Fourteenth Street in New Castle. It is now a parking lot. Fourteenth Street is between SR3 and SR103. Markers were moved to a special section of the Southmound Cemetery in 1884, however not all the remains have been moved. REDDING (The Reddings were discovered buried in the McDaniel's cemetery. No Redding cemetery exists.) SALEM S5 - T17N - R10E The exact location of this church cemetery is unknown. It was between CR100N and CR200N, and between CR75W and CR200W (Sulphur Springs Road). It is a woods now, no stones were ever found. SHEPHERD S2 - T17N - R10E This is on the grounds of the former New Castle State Hospital, east of SR103 on a hill, just south of the railroad bed and Blue River. SOUTH MOUND; WEST LAWN S15 - T17N - R10E 39°55'13"N 85°22'45"W This is the largest cemetery in the county. Many early graves were moved here. It is in the 500 block of Bundy Avenue, east of SR3. It can also be reached by going east on Cherry Street from SR3. West Lawn is the addition across the highway. ST. ANNE'S; ST. JOHN'S S9 - T17N - R10E 39°56'18"N 85°23'22"W This is on CR50N just west of SR3. ST. JOHN'S, see ST. ANNE'S SUGAR GROVE S8 - T17N - R10E This is on the east side of Sulphur Springs Road, north of SR38, 1.5 miles west of New Castle. WEST LAWN, see SOUTH MOUND ZOAR; LEWELLING S20 - T17N - R10E From SR38, travel south on the Greensboro Pike. It is southeast of the intersection with CR100S, in a woods about 100 feet from the road. BETHEL; GERMAN BAPTIST S12 - T18N - R9E 40°01'56"N 85°26'37"W From SR38 west of New Castle, go north on CR300W about seven miles. It is on the west side of the road. This was the former site of the Bethel German Baptist Church. BOWERS; SHARP S26 - T19N - R9E 40°04'15"N 85°28'46"W From the end of SR236 in Middletown, continue east on CR950N. Or, from US36, go north on Raider Road, and east on CR950W. Or, from SR3, go west on CR950N in Luray. It is east of CR500W, north of CR950N. It is east of Painter Cemetery and west of Beech Grove Cemetery. CARTER S19 - T18N - R10E The exact location of this cemetery is unknown. It would be between US #36 and CR400N, and between CR200W and CR300W. ½ mile south of the Robert's Pipe Line Co. GERMAN BAPTIST, see BETHEL SHARP, see BOWERS SULPHUR SPRINGS S18 - T18N - R10E This is north of US36, east of CR300W. It is north of the railroad, by the grain elevators on the east side of Sulphur Springs. BATSON S21 - T17N - R11E From SR38, travel south on CR500E, about ½ mile to this church and cemetery, east side of the road down the little lane. BELL S25 - T17N - R11E 39°53'59"N 85°13'18"W From SR38, go south on CR850E, turn east on CR200S, then continue south on CR850E. It is in a field north of Bell Run Creek, a short distance from the road. CHICAGO CORNER S24 - T17N - R11E This cemetery is at the Chicago Corner Church, located on SR38 at CR850E. DEVON, see LONG FLAT ROCK S4 - T17N - R11E From SR38, go north on CR650E, then east on CR100N. It is on the north side of the road. FORKNER S24 - T17N - R11E From SR38, travel south on CR850E. It was about a mile south of Chicago Corner. In 1928, it was said to have been plowed under. It is located near Symon's creek just east of 850E. LEAKEY, see WISEHART LOCUST GROVE S32 - T17N - R12E From SR38, go south on Wilbur Wright Road, then east on CR400S to Symon's Creek Road. LONG; DEVON S28 - T17N - R11E From SR38, go south on CR500S. It is on the southeast corner of CR200S and CR500E. All but one stone was removed, and the land plowed. LUTHERAN S2 - T17N - R11E The exact location of this church cemetery is unknown. It was south of CR200N and ¼ east of Wilbur Wright Road. The cemetery is on CR 100N on the Woolard property. It was the St. Paul Lutheran church. PRESSEL, JOEL S35 - T17N - R11E From SR38, go south on Wilbur Wright Road. It is in a farm field southeast of the intersection of Wilbur Wright Road and CR300S. PRESSEL, JOHN S34 - T17N - R11E From SR38, go south on Wilbur Wright Road. It is on the west side of the road, further south than the Joel Pressel Cemetery, and north of CR400S (Locust Grove Road). ST. PAUL S2 - T17N - R11E This would be north of CR100N and ¼ west of CR750E. UNIVERSAL S28 - T17N - R11E The exact location of this church cemetery is unknown. It was between CR200S and CR300S, and between CR500E and CR600E. This is the Same as the Long cemetery that was plowed over. WHITE HEART, see WISEHART WIMMER S17 - T17N - R11E From SR38, go north on Messick Road. It is on a farm along the railroad east of Ashland. WISEHART; LEAKEY; WHITE HEART S33 - T17N - R11E 39°52'36"N 85°16'33"W From SR38, travel south on CR500E, then southeast on Dublin Pike. It is on the northeast side of the road. BEECH GROVE S27 - T19N - R10E 40°04'10"N 85°22'52"W From SR3, go west on CR950N in Luray. It is on the north side of the road. BUNNER; LURAY S35 - T19N - R10E This is in a woods west of CR175E and south of CR900N. It is also believed to have been the old Luray Cemetery. EVANS S27 - T18N - R10E From SR3, go east on CR400N to CR50E. This was the site of the Lick Branch Baptist Church. HARVEY S13 - T18N - R10E 40°00'27"N 85°20'15"W From US36, travel north on the Old Muncie Pike, which is opposite the end of SR103. It is on the east-side of the road, a distance back on top of a hill. HILLSBORO S31 - T18N - R11E From SR103, go east on CR250N to Hillsboro. It is southeast of town. HOWARD S12 - T18N - R11E From SR3, go east on CR650N to CR175E. From Old Muncie Pike, go west on CR650N. It is on a farm in this area. The Howard and Harvey cemetery are the same cemetery. Samuel Howard deeded it to the Harvey's. ICE S30 - T18N - R11E This is south of CR425N between CR350E and Messick Road (CR450E). From SR103, go east on CR350N, which curves to become CR350E, and then CR425N. It is back in the little woods. Only field stones remain. LEBANON S11 - T18N - R10E 40°01'35"N 85°21'08"W From SR3, go east on CR650N. From Old Muncie Pike, go west on CR650N. This former burying ground for the Lebanon German Baptist Church is on the south side of the road. LIVEZEY S26 - T18N - R10E 39°59'18"N 85°21'56"W From US36, go south on CR100E about one mile. It is on the east-side of the road. LURAY, see BUNNER MT. SUMMIT S22 - T18N - R10E 40°00'14"N 85°22'20"W This is on the south side of US36 east of SR3. POWERS S30 - T19N - R11E From SR3, go east on CR800N, then go north on the Old Muncie Pike (Prairie Road). Where Old Muncie Pike curves to CR875N, go north on CR900N. It is on top of a hill west of the road. RHOTON S1 - T18N - R10E This would be south of CR750N and east of CR200E. SPRINGPORT, see WOODLAWN WAYMAN S34 - T18N - R10E This would be ½ mile east of CR50E and ¼ south of CR300N. Back in the woods. WOODLAWN; SPRINGPORT S33 - T19N - R10E 40°02'54"N 85°23'53"W From SR3, go west on CR800N. It is on the north side of the road at the west edge of Springport. CIRCLE GROVE S17 - T16N - R10E This cemetery is located north of the elementary school and the Spiceland Friends Cemetery at the northwest edge of Spiceland. Spiceland is on SR3, south of I-70 and north of US40. From SR3, go west on Main St. (CR650S), then north on Cemetery Drive past Spiceland Cemetery. DUNREITH S32 - T16N - R10E This cemetery is located between US40 and the Old National Road in Dunreith. It is south of the railroad. OLD FRIENDS, see SPICELAND SPICELAND; OLD FRIENDS S17 - T16N - R10E This cemetery is across from the Spiceland Friends Meetinghouse on W. Main Street in Spiceland. BECHTELHEIMER, see BUNDY BLOUNTSVILLE S35 - T19N - R11E It is located on CR750E around the Blountsville Methodist Church. Blountsville is at the intersection of US35 and Wilbur Wright Road (CR700E). Go north on Depot Street. BUCK CREEK; DUNKARD S33 - T19N - R11E From US35, go south on CR675E, then west on CR900N, then south on Buck Creek Road. BUNDY; BECHTELHEIMER S28 - T19N - R11E From US35, travel west on CR1000N (Delaware Co. road 800S), then south on CR575E. It is just south of the county line on the east side of the road. It is in an area of Prairie Restoration. CURRENT S29 - T19N - R11E From US35, go west on CR950N. This road ends at Buck Creek Pike. From this intersection, Messick Road heads southwest. The cemetery is west of Messick road near this intersection near a woods. DUNKARD, see BUCK CREEK FINCH S10 - T18N - R11E From US36, go north on Wilbur Wright Road, then west on CR600N. It is just west of this intersection. The former burial ground for the Christian Friend's church. HODSON; KISSINGER S10 - T18N - R11E 40°01'47"N 85°15'05"W From US36, go north on Wilbur Wright Road. It is about two miles north of Mooreland on the west side of the road on top a knoll. KISSINGER, see HODSON MOORE S34 - T19N - R11E From US35, go south on Wilbur Wright Road, then west on CR800N. It is east of CR675E and north of CR800N. This farm cemetery sits on the west bank of Stony Creek a half mile from any road. ROGERSVILLE S5 - T18N - R11E 40°02'35"N 85°18'16"W From US35, go south on CR675E, then west on CR750N, then north a short distance on Messick Road. It is at the north edge of the former community of Rogersville on the west side of the road. It is in an area of Prairie Restoration. WESTBURY S4 - T18N - R11E From US35, go south on Wilbur Wright Road, then west on CR750N, then south on Buck Creek Pike. From US36, go north on Wilbur Wright Road, then north on Buck Creek Pike. It is on a farm west of Buck Creek Pike, between CR700N and CR750N. ZIRKLE S10 - T18N - R11E This would be west of Wilbur Wright Road and north of CR600N. Same as Finch Christian Friends. ELM GROVE S23-T16N-R9E From US40, go north on Mill Road, which is just east of Big Blue River at the west edge of Raysville. It is east of Mill Road and north of CR750S. Or, from SR109, go east on CR750S, and north on Mill Road. FORT, FRANCIS S20 - T16N - R9E From SR109, go west on CR750S. It is near Montgomery Creek on the south side just after you Cross the Bridge. About 100 yards northwest of Joseph's FORT, JOSEPH S29 - T16N - R9E From SR109, go west on CR750S. It is also near Montgomery Creek. In the woods on the hill just south of the road. GLEN COVE, IOOF S28 - T16N - R9E 39°48'16"N 85°32'01"W This cemetery is on the west side of SR109 at the north edge of Knightstown. It is north of Knightstown Cemetery. IOOF, see GLEN COVE KNIGHTSTOWN S28 - T16N - R9E This cemetery is south of Glen Cove on west side of SR109 at the north edge of Knightstown. It is the older part of this cemetery. KNIGHTSTOWN BAPTIST, see PIONEER KNIGHTSTOWN BETHEL This is southeast of the church lot. Nothing more is known of this cemetery. OLD KNIGHTSTOWN S27 - T16N - R9E This is at the north edge of town on Greensboro Pike. From SR109, go east on Morgan Street, then north on Greensboro Pike. PIONEER; KNIGHTSTOWN BAPTIST S34 - T16N - R9E From SR109, go east on Morgan Street in Knightstown. This was the site of the Blue River Baptist Church.
