Restoration of Painter Cemetery of Fall Creek Township - April 2007
The restoration of the old Painter Cemetery was started this spring. A very generous donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated $5,000 for the project.
Since this restoration is of major proportions, we hired the services of Helen Wildermuth of Stone Hugger Cemetery Restorations (http://www.stonehugger.com/) and Mark Davis of Stone Saver Cemetery Restorations (http://www.geocities.com/md9105/StoneSaverCemeteryRestoration.html) to take on the task of restoring the larger stones and monuments in the cemetery. They accomplished an outstanding job of restoring most of the larger stones and monuments. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done in this cemetery, a new fence installed, other stones straightened, cleaned and reset. With the help of these two individuals we are off to a great start on the restoration of this old pioneer cemetery. We hope to have this cemetery as a show place of what can be done with a little money and determination.
