September 2005 Franklin Township
The Henry County Cemetery Commission finally tackled one of our projects we have wanted to clean for several years. The Farley burial ground, located in Franklin Township in Henry, Co., Indiana, is the final resting place of Capt. Mathew "Matt" Farley, a veteran of the Revolutionary war, and his family members.
We were finally permitted to go in and clean this old burial ground. The landowner and the township trustee signed permission forms and releases with certain restrictions, which we are well aware of.
Mr. Rich Green of Historic Archaeological Research has plans to do a GPR survey on this cemetery. It would need to be cleared of all interferences to the radar, so had to get it done on short notice. Tuesday, Sept 27th, Donna Tauber, Angela Tielking, Ken Holmes and Bud Bush of the HCCC tackled the job and after about four hours everything was cleaned off and spotless.
We will let everyone know how things turned out and what was found after we get the results back.
