November 2003 Liberty Township
Pioneer Cemetery Committee and Interested Citizens:
It was in the year 2000 that Bud Bush contacted me that about the small Friends Cemetery, where one of my Rev. War ancestors, Jacob Brown, was buried, having it's fence removed. You can see the remains of a chain link fence in background in the photo immediately below. I soon thereafter wrote the Liberty Township Trustee in Henry County. She stated she would consider it and put it in the budget for the following year. After the budget was considered and passed then waiting until the following year to get bids out and another season or two to get see someone actually got the job done. The former Liberty township trustee Georganna Kelly stated "I will see that the fence is replaced." She chose not to run for re-election, but the new trustee, Ms. Patty Patrik, followed up on the fence and had the new split-rail fence professionally installed this summer. It blends in nicely with the area. Thanks to the trustees the Flat Rock Friends Cemetery got it's new fence (and living neighbors). See the pictures below.
That's what communication and working together can do! Perseverance Pays Off. I wrote more than one letter to get this done.
Thanks Bud.
