The Holland cemetery in Dudley Township, Henry County, IN, after many years of neglect, was finally cleaned and raked this past weekend.
Thanks to the Henry County Sheriff's Department's Deputy Ken King and the community service workers, we spent about three hours cutting weeds and brush in the cemetery and fencerows. It should now be able to keep this cemetery mowed regularly.
I would like to thank the Henry County Sheriff's Department for all of their help and support in furnishing the needed manpower for what we are trying to accomplish here in Henry County, IN. If not for them it would be impossible to do the many projects we schedule.
Many of the stones have fallen over, not necessarily from vandalism, but from the gradual deterioration of the stones and root growth that has caused many of the stones to lean. The obelisks of many of the stones were just stacked without any re-enforcement used, such as metal rods. The metal rods used in others had just rusted away.
So…. There is a lot of tombstone restoration needed here
