On file in my office is the following:
   "To the honorable the Circuit court of Henry County, Ind. the undersigned petitioners beg leave to represent, that a change in the State Road leading from NewCastle in Henry County to Muncytown in Delaware County, will be of great saving of a pond and neighborhood lake, and place the road on much better ground, ______ _____ and much less offence, to keep the same in repair, and at all seasons of the year, and of public utility and of a better road, the alteration proposed is to have the present location a short distance south of Shepherd's farm, in said County of Henry, and running on the east side of Blue River for some miles to Garrets Bridge thence crossing the same at the most convenient place , thence on the best ground & most eligible route through Luray, to said Muncytown, the nearest and best way. We therefore pray the previous considered, your Honors will appoint commissioners and do all such other things necessary in such cases secured and provided for by the Statutes of the State of Indiana, and as in duty bound will ever pray ~ May 1st 1857
