This cemetery was established on 4 Mar 1844 when 3 acres was deeded to the trustees of the Friends church to be used for the erection of a house of worship and for a burial ground for the use of said members of the church.    It is located on the old National Road (US # 40) on the east side of the town of Raysville, IN. It is next to the old Raysville Christian cemetery. Last year (2004) the fence that used to separate the two cemeteries was removed to make it easier to mow and maintain. So now it looks like there is only one cemetery there when it is actually two separate cemeteries. It has not been used for burials for several years.    It has fallen on hard times and several of the stones are down and/or missing and need repaired. The last time I was there (Fall of 2004) a large tree had fallen over and damaged a couple of stones. Hopefully the tree will be removed this year.    The township trustee has been doing quite a bit of cemetery maintenance the last couple of years trying to get the old cemeteries back in good condition, but they need a lot of work.    In the 1870s the Raysville Friends was one of the larger Friends churches in Henry County with a membership of over 200 and a church building with a seating capacity of over 300.    As with all Friends cemeteries there are a lot of unmarked burials in this old burial ground.
